I know this means buying something but nail varnish helps to make nails grow quicker, you could get a really cheap one they all work just as good.
just cut them really short

then like dont do hard work around the house so that

they dont chip.

and i think there is a nail polish that helps them

grow faster..

and dont ge fake nails..that'll totally kill ur real ones!
Just dont bite them, Theyll grow back. Mine grow fast so suppose yours might too.
I know milk works. Not sure about green tea.

You could always massage her nail beds with coconut oil.

Oh wow i have the same problem, what i do is i bought this nasty nail lotion you put it on your nails and it tastes soo nasty that everytime your finger goes in your mouth after that taste you think twice about it... and you get the hang of it... It is called Control it.... I got it from ebay but you can search the web to see who else has it its usually more expensive then the ones on ebay.
dip your fingers in nail polish remover it works just as good as that stuff in the nail department.
put on nail polish
theres this stuff that tastes nasty, and u put it on your nails. in in the nail department.

the worst you'll have to do is eat food with utesils for a week and a half, or if you strangely like the taste of the stuff lol..
Make sure you keep your nails trimmed. Also, try to keep something in your hands all the time so that you don't have a chance to bite your nails.
Put band-aids on the tips of your fingers.
cut them
Keep them cut short. I've found it good to also keep nail polish on them.

What can you use to bleach yellowed nails?

I've heard of soaking them in peroxide, but I've also heard that's a myth. Does anyone know of anything that actually works? What can you use to bleach yellowed nails?
I bought some cuticle remover cream at ';Sally's';. It is in a Puff Paint type bottle and is bright yellow. You put it on your nails and after 5-10 minutes, remove it and a lot of the yellow on your nails comes off too!! It was only $2 or $3.What can you use to bleach yellowed nails?
a few things that my cousin and I have tried over the years.......stop wearing dark nail polish without a base coat, you can soak them in bleach or stop wearing nail polish all together for a bit of time.
STOP SMOKING!
You just have to stop wearing nail polish for a time.
Fresh cut lemon - just rub on nails
I don't know any chemical solutions that can solve that problem but I stopped wearing nail polish in a year and my nails grew to its healthy color.
stop wearing nail polish for a while

and

next time use a primer/base coat to prevent nail staining

Or is this nicotine staining? If so.. peroxide will remove this
yes or you should get a file file the yellow of then bleach them but you cant paint them for a week or two because nail polish will stain them
YES EITHER SAOKING THEM IN PEROXIDE OR BLEACH OR LEMON JUICE AND THEY HAVE WHITING KITS FOR NAILS THAT THEY SELL IN A BEAUTY STORE

How many times can you fill your nails before you get acrylic taken off and freshly re-applied?

I have had my nails filled for months (about 2 or 3) and my nail tech does a great job. My natural nails are extremely long now which is amazing because my nails never grow. When should I completlely take off the acrylic and start over? How many times can you fill your nails before you get acrylic taken off and freshly re-applied?
It is different for everybody, i take about a month. But you will definitely know, and your nail tech should recommend too.How many times can you fill your nails before you get acrylic taken off and freshly re-applied?
NOW YOU CAN GO TO THE NAIL SALON AND GET THEM TO SOAK YOUR NAILS OFF AND YOU CAN GET ACRYLIC ON YOUR REAL NAILS THATS WHAT I DID I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN MY REAL NAILS GREW LONG.
i take off my acrylics about every 4 months--wait a month to let my nails heal and then do it again
Once your nails have grown out, and you see the white part of your nail under the acrylic, you need to have them ';Soaked'; off, and your nails cut back and start over from the beginning. If your nail gets too long under the acrylic, there might be a separation of the nail and the acrylic. If this happens, you may get a fungus. Also the nail becomes weak and this cause the nail to bend and the acrylic tends to pop off, or crack. How often should you change your tips?As soon as you see your own white nail edge under the fills. Even if you paint your nails, you still need to put new tips on once your nails grow out.

  • How do I keep from biting my nails?

I have a real issue with it.Like, I used to just bite them off (the top part not my entire nail), but now I just like nibble on them.So it breaks off and it looks really ugly after a little while cuss the nail breaks, etc. From me chewing on it.

Can you help me break this habit so I can have longer/prettier nails? How do I keep from biting my nails?
There are alot of good remedies out there to help you stop biting your nails.

Here is a step by step process:

1.Confront your problem. Get a camera and take some pictures of your bitten fingernails. Examine your nails, and list their problems.

Visualize yourself with healthy nails, and how great they will look.

Pick at least one nail to ';protect'; at a time.

2.After a few days, an unbitten nail will flourish and reward you. Do not bite it. If you must, bite one of the 'unprotected' ones.

3.Once you have grown your unbitten nail for a while, start protecting another one. And another.

4.Record your progress in a notebook or photo album. Take ';before and after'; photos of your nails and put them in the book to keep you motivated. Recognizing that it usually takes three weeks to grow nails half a centimeter, chart out in the book how long you want your nails to be by a certain date.

5.Eat calcium- and magnesium- rich foods so that your nails will repair and grow well. Not only that, but most of the reason that the human body wants to bite nails is the lack of calcium and magnesium in the body and the body needs that material back.

6.Push your cuticles back. Many nail-biters do not have ';moons'; on the base of their fingernails because their cuticles have not been pushed back. To do this, gently push your cuticles towards your finger to reveal more of your nail. This is easier to do after a shower when your hands and nails are wet. This makes the nail appear longer, and it gives a more attractive shape, which might also be a motivation to stop biting.

7.Find a habit to take the place of nail biting. Whenever you have the urge to bite, do that instead. Some people like to drum their fingers, or just stare at their hands. Just make sure it's not a bad habit; choose a helpful one or one that doesn't really matter either way. 'Bitrex' is a chemical that is put in products to make them taste foul, obtained from your local pharmacy. It's included in nibble inhibitors that you paint on to your nails. Carry some with you at all times. Apply your nasty solution several times a day. If you get used to the taste, choose another brand.

Distract your mouth. Eat carrot sticks to keep you busy. Keep a stick of gum handy for those weak moments.

8.No more idle hands..Distract your hands by taking up a hobby.

A hobby to distract your hands might be making models or maintaining your house, knitting or crochet, running or other outside pursuits, or even nail care and decoration!

For those whose nail biting is obsessive/compulsive it may help to approach your hobby obsessively.

Cover your nails. For females, fit artificial nails. They can really help. For guys, polish them and apply some shine/growth promoter or petroleum jelly. It's harder to bite nails that are looking great!

9.Keep gloves in your back pocket and wear them when you want to bite.

10.Put little pieces of tape on the ends of your fingers, to remind yourself how destructive biting is.

    11. If you have any surplus growth, cut your nails back. Keep clippers with you at all times. You can't bite if there's nothing there!

Speaking about your nails will help to focus your mind on your goals. Ask for help from your partner(s). Keep talking about your goals.

    12. Show off your improved nails, and get much-needed encouragement and praise from your peers.

Be proud of your improving nails. They will shine with beauty.

Go for a manicure, and chat with the manicurist about having great nails.

    13. If you are male and you go in for a manicure and anyone gives you grief for not being manly, just say you are taking radical steps, whatever it takes. That should be manly enough for anyone.

    14. Keep looking after your nails, with cuticle oil, shine and growth promoter, and no biting!

Things my friend who used to bite her nails do:

    - something my friend used off the Berenstain Bears Show is dipping your fingers in a sour lemon mixture. Everytime you try to bite your nails, you will taste the disgusting mixture.

    - she always wear nail polish (adds a little bit of pepper in it)

    - adds tape around the tip of her finger nails

    - cuts her nails everytime they start to look long

    - distracted herself by a hobby instead of always thinking about biting her nails

Hope this helps! :)How do I keep from biting my nails?
You can try painting your nails with Tabasco sauce or there is some bitter stuff that you can buy to paint your nails with. Both taste bad and can help you break the habit of biting your nails. Also it has to be something you really want to do, you have to work at it and be very self aware of when you are putting your fingers in your mouth to chew on them. I used to sit on my hands when I wasn't writing or using them.
you can get a solution from the chemist like boots, not sure what its called, you apply to your nails....it tastes really bitter and theres no way you'd want to bite your nails.......the only downside is the taste seems to transfer to fingertips, so if happen to eat with your fingers, youl have that taste on the food........it takes a lot of washing to rid of that taste.....but at least you wont bite your nails
I used to bite my nails, and whenever I wore nail polish I wouldn't want to bite my nails any more. So, keep nail polish on your nails. Or if you don't want to put nail polish on them just keep clear polish on them. Eventually, you will have long beautiful nails :]
I have the same habit, but probably a lot worse =[

I have had this issue since I was a little baby.. well old enough to bite my nails.. I have never cut them because they were never long enough..

I am look'in for answers 2 here... I need something to help me 2 =[[

-Thanks for asking this, i need help 2 !
yeahh, thats what i usually do.

i wear nail polish to help me stop nibbling on my nails.

in a way it motivates me to keep my nails growing so they'll look all nice later with the nail polish. hahah.

also, i try not to look at my nails because then i'll get tempted.
my sister has this problem did you know tapping your nails on something helps them grow faster you could try that or like my sister did go to the store and get fake nails so that you just bite on those not your real ones sooner or later will grow
I bite the insides of my cheeks actually...Oh you could also use the lame 'put hot sauce on nails' trick. Idk if it works.
What I did was dip my fingers in nail polish remover every day. So when you put the nails in your mouth it will tast bad. After a while you just stop.
Put clear fingernail polish on what nails you have left and that should help you from biting them.
dip ur fingers in arsenic! :) you wont even think about biting them after that
put cayenne pepper in your nail polish.

My cuticle on the sides of my nails turned orange, what should I do?

I finished up with the Master Cleanse Diet 2 weeks ago (10 days of exclusively 8 oz purified water, 2 tsp maple syrup, 1/10 tsp cayanne pepper). A couple days of fresh OJ and water, then back to salads, and more traditional foods.

During it and afterward, I've noticed my cuticle on the sides of my nails turned orange.

    I used to take a multi-vitamin daily along with B, C, E, which I haven't taken since.

I do eat some fruit daily now.

Manicures: Do they use fake nails or do they work with your real nails?

I have never had a manicure before, I would just like to know because I bite my nails, and wasn't sure if they use your real nails.Manicures: Do they use fake nails or do they work with your real nails?
A fill is when you have to go back to the salon after a couple weeks for them to fill in acrylic into the nail that's grown out. Also, if you get a set of pink %26amp; whites, a French Acrylic manicure, you will have to get a back fill every 4 to 6 weeksManicures: Do they use fake nails or do they work with your real nails?
Manicures can be done with Both Fake or Work with Your own Nails Its Up to you
For a regular manicure they use your real nails.

If you want fake nails they charge extra and they don't automatically do that if you get a manicure.
They will use your real nails unless you ask for a 'full set.' Which means fake nails.
If you ask for acrylics, you get acrylics, other wise they use your nails.

How can I keep my dog still when I'm trying to clip her nails?

she's an Italian Greyhound, will be 7 years-old next month. i usually take her to petsmart to get it done and she stays almost completely still when the people at petsmart do it but at home she won't even stay still long enough to cut one nail.

does anyone have any tips on how i can get her to stay still? How can I keep my dog still when I'm trying to clip her nails?
You should ask a friend to help you. If they agree, tell them to hold a treat in their fist so that your dog can barely taste it. (Make sure your friend is okay with having dog slobber all over her hands.) This will keep her occupied and she probably won't care what you do with her nails. How can I keep my dog still when I'm trying to clip her nails?
grab her paw and hold on until she quits struggling. Then try it.If she trys to wiggle, stop and hold her paw until she quits. It worked for my dog.
Give him some food or hook his chain to the door nob.
You, must be nervous about doing her nails. Dogs can smell the pheromones that we exude for almost any reason and if for some reason trimming her nails makes you anxious she will be aware of it and not trust you to do the job. Or because she fusses, you usually let her go and she has learned that this particular behavior allows her to get her own way.

Have her lay down and sit down with her and have the nail trimmer laying in plain sight, then handle each of her feet in turn, examining each toe. Do this every day for about a week, don't cut anything yet. After the week, introduce the nail trimmer and touch each nail with the trimmer, don't cut anything. On the third week, do everything as before but only cut one or two nails and let her go.

The main thing is to keep her in place and no matter how much she fusses, don't let her go. Finish the routine each day and when your done, give her a treat and praise her exuberantly. She'll come around but it will take time for her realize that she can trust you and no matter how much wiggling she does it's not done until you say so.
You can pet and talk to her while you are doing it and slowly pet near her foot, this might desenitze the area, you could also give her treats while you are cutting them.
    Good luck!

What vitamin do I need for healthy nails?

I recently took off my sculptured nails and now my real nails are unhealthy, what vitamin do I need to get to make nails healthy again? What vitamin do I need for healthy nails?
Just eat healthy and take a multivitamin/multimineral supplement. That way you're covering all your bases and you new nails will grow in just fine. What vitamin do I need for healthy nails?
It's a vitamin called Hair,Skin and Nails sold by GNC It actually works, the main ingredient in most of these is Iron but you can take Calcium as well.
the hair and nails are made up of excess protein. So anything with excess protein should help. Also vitamin E is said to help.
Vitamin B.....or you could take prenatal vitamins (sounds silly) but they work
Biotin and Calcium (with vitamin D). Also use sally hanson, strong nails that helps fortify the nails and helps them grow.
a good calcium intake is important for strong nails.

Any three of the following are recommended to meet your daily calcium needs:

    •One glass milk (200mls)

    •One pot of yoghurt (125g)

    •28g/1 oz cheese.

    Vitamin D

Vitamin D is needed for strong, healthy nails. Breakfast cereals and milk with added vitamin D are very good sources of vitamin D but the best source is sunlight so get outside!

    Minerals

Other minerals such as manganese and selenium are important too. Wholegrains, nuts and seeds are good sources of selenium and manganese.
    vitamin e, i'm pretty sure..

How do I cut my guinea pigs nails?

Can I use our normal nail cutter? How much should I cut it? How do I stop my guinea pigs from moving around when I'm cutting their nails? How do I cut my guinea pigs nails?
    My usual nail cutting tips:

You can use regular human nail clippers. If you are scared about cutting to short, hold the feet over a light (flashlight, maybe) and you can see the quick easily and know where to stop. You could also put a brick in their cage. It might help them file their own nails down a bit, but probably not. My guys just jump over their brick.

You can always take him to a vet to trim his nails, but that will cost you. I always have their butt sitting on my leg so that they don't feel like they are mid air. My guys don't like it and it takes time. Sometimes, if their are exceptionally wiggly, I only cut one foot and let them run for a bit before doing another. There have been times that I cut the front feet one day and the back the next. It does take patience. Good Luck!!

New owners shoud read http://guinealynx.info for a great guide to keeping your piggie healthy and happy! How do I cut my guinea pigs nails?
its sometimes easier with 2 ppl. one to hold, and then that leaves 2 hands for you to hold the little foot. i use regular human clippers for mine. just be carful not to cut too deep.
try wrapping them all cozy in a old blanket or towel, have only 1 foot sticking out of the towel, and use store bought clippers and do it like yours, leave a little something there!

    hope it helps!! :)
I started using a normal nail cutter, and my husband helped to hold the piggie still. I now use a cat claw trimmer (they're like little scissors) and I can do it on my own. Basically, you'll want to find a position that relatively comfortable for the pig and gives you access to their feet. Be gentle but firm when holding them. You can try wrapping them in a towel so that their legs are sticking out. You can even try using a tennis racquet - have someone hold the racquet out and put your pig on the netted part. I personally haven't tried this, but I've heard of people that have. I currently have a method of putting a fluffy pillow on my lap and laying my pig on their back on the pillow. I place my hand across their belly and use my fingers to steady the foot I'm trimming. My boys don't fight as much, but if they do start to squirm I'll talk to them gently to try to calm them, and if that doesn't work I flip them back over and give them a break.

As far as trimming, the nail is made up of two parts - the dead tip and the quick, the pink center. If you're lucky enough to have a pig with clear nails it's pretty easy to see the quick. You'll want to trim just so there's a tiny bit of nail before the tip of the quick. If your pig has black nails, start by just taking off a little bit at a time. If you nip the quick don't panic. Grab some flour or styptic powder (available at pet stores) and dab onto the tip and keep pressure on it for about 30 seconds until the bleeding stops. While uncomfortable, it's a minor ';wound'; that your piggie will recover from quickly.
    Good Luck!

If you handle your guinea pig regularly they will get use to nail trims...

I wrap mine in a towel and quickly trim his nails.
I use not nail scissor, but nail clippers for humans. You need to get your guinea pig on its back, in the crook of your arm. You will need to be firm and it may require food treats or a couple of people, in terms of how much to cut you need to cut up to the blood line. This can be hard in black guinea pigs - in this case you may just want to nick the top off. The following site is fantastic for nail care:

    http://www.guinealynx.com/nails.html
GO TO A VET COZ IT MAY HURT the guinea pig. good that a vet cuts it.
Use cat clippers or human nail clippers if you dont have kitty ones. Cut slightly before the pink vein where the nail curves. You might need a second person to stop the wiggling.
Just take the clippers and cut the tip where it is sharp I use the regular nail clippers and find it easier that way,I try to get some one to help hold them while I cut them.

  • What is the best way to cut a 5 month old baby girls finger nails without cutting her?

I have cut her twice and she bled and screamed.

It really makes me very nervous doing it.

Any advice for a househusband Daddy????What is the best way to cut a 5 month old baby girls finger nails without cutting her?
If you insist on cutting them (filing is much easier) either wait until she is asleep, or restrain her somewhere where she is comfortable, like in her bouncy seat or car seat. Then, hold her hand and take her finger, pressing down softly at the tip so there is a small gap between the nail and the finger. Then, take the nail cutter and insert it where you see the small gap. Make sure the entire nail is in the cutter and that no skin is in there. Make sure she does not move around to avoid any more accidents.

Good luck! What is the best way to cut a 5 month old baby girls finger nails without cutting her?
Trim her nails when she is asleep - you also don't have to do them all at once - cut one or two tonight when she is in bed, maybe another one or two during her nap tomorrow.

Babies nails are also very soft, when my babies were small, it used to be recommended that parents bit the nails when they got too long, they are very thin and soft.
I filed them with a baby nail file until my daughter was about 7 or 8 months and now i have a great clipper from safety first, it has a light at the end, and I wait until she is asleep and then use them. I hold her finger so i pull the skin back from the pad of her finger so nothing other than the nail touches the clippers.
poor baby. that was my fear so what i do still to this day and my daughters a year and a half now is .. i bite them off lol my friends mom said she did it with her kids and i thought hmm seems safe, a little odd but at least i'll know i'm not cutting her. and seriously once a week i do the toe nails when she's eating lunch or dinner in her high chair because its the only way she'll let me get to them. mm nothing like a rubin and baby toe nails lol
baby nail clippers. and don't try to make them as short as you do just make em a lil shorter or get someone else who doesn't feel nervous.

also try when she is asleep:D
I always did my twins when they were asleep, let her fall asleep on your lap and have the clippers nearby, and use the little ones with the magnifying glass on it, and dont sweat it, a lot of us has done that, it takes some practice
DO NOT cut them. Do not tear them...nibble them or file them with a very soft finger nail file (not metal). I know - nibbling sounds atrocious but it's better than cutting .That's how I did it.
WHEN SHE IS SLEEPING , OR BITE THEM OFF,
Cut them while she's sleeping.. i also bought a neat little pair of nail clippers from walmart that have an led light on them and they didnt cost much...it makes it much easier to see their tiny little nails
Cutting her nails while she is sleeping is the best way that I found and worked for us. Use the baby nail cutter as well.
Wait until she's sleeping! That's what I have to do with my daughter. It's very easy when she sleeps, since she isn't squirming around. Good luck!
Use a baby nail file and file them down. It is much easier and no pain involved.
I have a daughter and i bit her nails when shes asleep or when shes eating so she is distracted and i dont have to worry about the cutting her thing

    hope this helps!
Use a soft nail file and file them down instead of cut it. It is easier to round out the edges and doesn't hurt the little ones.
Try when she is sleeping. That's when I have the best luck. We also use the small clippers with the magnifier on the end. Good luck!
well i read that it's better to bite them off then to cut them

How can I trim my bunny's nails without making her stressed ?

My bunny's nails need to be trimmed, but I've never done it before! How can I trim them without harming her or putting her under a lot of stress? How can I trim my bunny's nails without making her stressed ?
    Hey!!

You might need to get someone to help you.

Either you or a friend needs to hold her on her back so you can see her claws properly, if she wriggles, wrap her in a towel loosely so you can get to her feet. Get a pair of animal nail cutters that you can buy from any good pet store. Squeeze her paw slightly so she spreads her toes and begin cutting carefully. Keep hold of her paw while you do this in case she tries to pull it away. Then begin to cut the white parts of the nail, stop cutting when you get near to the part of the nail that is red/pink- if you cut this bit she will bleed. If she has dark coloured nails, shine a torch underneath so you can see where the the pink bit begins. If you do make a mistake and she does bleed, get some flour and put it on the bleeding part which helps the blood on the wound clot.

Good luck! How can I trim my bunny's nails without making her stressed ?
depends on how friendly it is. i have had rabbits i could just sit in my lap and use a small nail cutter...no problem.(just don't cut them too close or the nail will bleed)

other rabbits i needed help holding them in a towell...those you must be very careful as they are trying to get free and it's easy to cut the nail too close. do it more often and don't cut that much at a time.

also put something rough in it's run..like a flat large stone something

the rabbit has to run across to get from one end to the other.

this will act like an emery board and keep the nails a little more under control.

good luck, rabbits are hard and die very easily. in the past by the time i realized something was wrong it was too late. one rabbit i took to two different vets neither one could find anything wrong with her...2 days later she died...they can't take the heat very well either..

make sure they are always in a shaded area during the summer.
Well maybe if its not too much trouble for you try to find a friend that might know how to do it or maybe go to a vet good luck! hope i helped! :)
Don't do it, take her to the groomer because if you cut to much you could hurt her badly.
if u hav 2 wrrap her up in a towl so she doesnt squrm as mch

How do girls with very long acrylic nails maintain their hygiene?

I know this may sound funny (and it is kind of) but this question has bothered me for a while but I've never had the guts to actually ask someone. I had gotten some a few months ago and they were not long at all. But they were very uncomfortable. I can't understand how women with those long nails do. If you have or have had extremely long nails I want to know how do you do your daily tasks? How do you wipe yourself? Do you clean down there? How do girls with very long acrylic nails maintain their hygiene?
hmmm extra TP in the bathroom. a washcloth or sponge for downstairs. one of those nail-cleaning sticks for under the nails.... long fake nails help for washing your hair, so i have found, because you can really dig into your hair with the shampoo %26amp; conditioner, giving your hair a really deep clean.

i think acrylics are uncomfortable at first too but i got used to them within a week. but they rip my contact lenses so i cant wear them much :( but i better get ready for them because prom is next month! haha

good question! How do girls with very long acrylic nails maintain their hygiene?
    always wondered that myself...
    Very, very carefully!!!
people still do that? i thought that went out of style in 02 or something, I always thought they were so ugly anyways.
It is a really stupid question.

Fake or not women with long nails can be just as clean as ones that don't have them.
Dont play with your cltoris let your man do it
Well, my nails aren't really long, and some women do have them long, but you get a washcloth and use it. nails dont really make a factor, because something else is washing you.

If they were uncomfortable to you, when I have the fake nails you buy at the store on... my mouth swells up a bit, and It only happens the first few days, but it's some sort of chemical in the glue or the nails. Not sure which one.

Ask your nail lady though, that's what she's there for. Dont get really long nails if you aren't comfortable with them.
Perhaps they use a reaching tool or a robotic buttwiper.

What causes swollen hands and when they are submerged in warm water the finger nails turn blue?

Recently my hands and fingers have started swelling I cannot figure out what is going on. Now when I submerge them in warm water the finger nails turn blue. Help Please! What causes swollen hands and when they are submerged in warm water the finger nails turn blue?
The additional moisture you add to your hands causes your skin to expand. When your hands get wrinkly in the water, it's because the skin is not able to expand where there is connective tissue. Try using a cold compress instead of water.

  • How do I quit biting my finger nails?

I have been biting my finger nails for years and I have tried everything. What should I do?How do I quit biting my finger nails?
They make a solution to put on your nails that tastes bitter and will help you stop. How do I quit biting my finger nails?
Well you could pick up ciggarette smoking to calm your nerves......but biting your fingernails won't make you gain weight and is not unhealthy. Perhaps some fake nails may be the answer?
I think I might be able to help each other could you please drop me an email as I'm doing a project on stress and nail biting if you are interested to help. email or im me my details are under my profile.
Get Hypnotized (it works!) or put hot pepper spray on your nails. Good Luck.
glad to know i am not alone. i still bite mine, put false nails to stop me. then bite the false nails off over the week and then bite my own nails. tried stop.n,grow. that didnt work

dont know i am doing it, but must be tension, nerves, habit , or stress.

    drives my bf mad. help!!
My 10-year-old daughter is still struggling with this. She paints her nails (clear polish), and the taste stops her from biting her nails, at least until the polish comes off. It's a nervous habit, so she also chews on pens. Not the best solution, but maybe you can transfer the chewing habit to chewing gum
    Wear gloves.
I bit my nails from the time I was a small child up until I was about 45. I tried everything to stop-bitter polish, bandaids on all my fingers, etc. Then I decided to get acrylic nails so my hands didn't look so ugly. By the time I needed to either get a fil-in or remove them I had broken the habit. it's been 12 years and I still don't bit my nails.

Is it possible to drive 16 penny nails into 20 yr old white oak trees without killing them?

I want to build my kid a tree house, but don't want to kill the whie oaks.Is it possible to drive 16 penny nails into 20 yr old white oak trees without killing them?
I have two ideas for other options: You could build a fort instead, just on the ground. But if your kid needs to be elevated, how about a little stilt house near or under the tree, but with access to the tree.Is it possible to drive 16 penny nails into 20 yr old white oak trees without killing them?
Based on my personal experience, Driving a nail into an oak will cause the wood around the nail to turn black and rot. Yes it will kill an oak tree.

Use some commons sense here. To kill moss and other unwanted plant life you put down powdered iron sulfate. Steel is iron and tin mixed. It will poison the tree where it goes in.

Do what I did, I used 4x4 treated post and set them in the ground and built a play house in the air for the kids. It had steps with a hand rail on one side, and a rope ladder on the other, and a rope with a pulley and bucket to get things up to the play house.
A galvanized steel nail won't kill the trees, but keep in mind that each tree grows outward as well as up. Soon the nail and the board you nailed to the tree will be embedded in the wood of the tree, even eventually will be entirely covered with wood and bark, and will be there for the rest of it's life.
Yes, you are not completing a full circle around the tree or killing the life line (root) Bob,
Nailing into oak trees will not hurt them unless they are real unhealthy to begin with.

How can I clip my guinea pigs nails when he wont let me pick him up and he bites me?

i need to clip my guinea pigs nails but every time i try he bites me! I can take him to the pet store to get them clipped but he bites me when i try to pick him up! please help me he needs them clipped! How can I clip my guinea pigs nails when he wont let me pick him up and he bites me?
Oh,how I dread doing this-it's never fun but I found a way that works very well.First of all, this is no simple job for 1 person-have a friend or family member help you.Have one person hold the piggie firmly in one hand, resting his body on your lap or the floor and gently cover his eyes with the other-this seems to calm them down alot if they cannot see what's going on! Have the second person carefully trim the nails, just be sure not to cut too closely or you will injure them. How can I clip my guinea pigs nails when he wont let me pick him up and he bites me?
I used to have the same problem but i just did this sat and it worked. What i did was i put on a pair of cloth gloves and picked him up with a towel so he could not bite me then i filled my sink with and inch of warm but not too hot water just to cover his feet 4 like 3 min not long because guinea pigs don't do well with temp changes. then i wrapped him in the towel dried his fur off first so he wouldn get sick but if you only wet his feet it wint take long. then because his feet were in water his nails were soft and easy to trim so i had my boyfriend hold him while i cut his nails but dont cut past the pink part or you will hurt the guinea pig .

    good luck
Give him a treat so he can trust you, or a small pile of hay, and lure him out, or wear something thick like gloves so it doesn't hurt when he bites you! If you have a small cage, bring the whole cage. Or put a small box right next to your guinea pig, and pick him up as quickly as you can and put him in! ^^
Your little piggy is just scared. My guinea pigs are great when I trim their nails but it wasn't always that way. I put them on my lap on their back and hold them securely and talk to them softly. I try to make them feel very secure. If he bites you then wear some gloves. His nails have to be trimmed. The more you do it the more he will get used to it.
you can get a vet to do it or you will need another person to hold him and and keep his head out the way while you clip the nails
Try toweling him. It covers his eyes to reduce stress, restricts his movement while you try to clip his nails, and helps get him out of his cage, which is good for socializing.

    Good luck.

Is there any way to prevent my nails from growing sideways?

I am currently in the process of quitting my nail biting habit. I realize that my nails actually grow sideways because I used to bite the flesh at the sides. My nails now look kind of weird because the the white parts are not just at the tip of the nail, but instead, at the left, right, and tip of the nail (I'm sorry if you can't get it). I am determined to improve the conditions of my nail.Is there any way to prevent my nails from growing sideways?
The first thing is to stop biting. You can buy something at most drug stores which you put on yout nail that make them taste terrible. I think it's called Bite-Stop. After your nails grow out you have to cut the nails straight across, so use a toe-nail clipper instead of smaller nail clipper. It will take a while since nails usually only grow about a quarter inch a month. You nail growth should change once you leave the sides of your nail alone.

If the problem doesn't improve you may have to have your nails removed to get them to grow in the right direction. I had this done with a toenail and needless to say, it is not a fun process. Is there any way to prevent my nails from growing sideways?
I have the same habit. I've been trying to quit but can't. I also bite the flesh beside my nails. I honestly think that there's nothing to do about nails growing sideways, (I know what you mean about the white part.) sorry.

For non-Chinese people, I think it's just to look ';cool';.
Men use these long pinky nails in order to be able to scoop up a hit of cocaine and snort it quickly without bringing too much attention to themselves.

What's the difference between these nails?

What's the difference between acrylic, gel, crystals, and solar nails? I have acrylics to help me from biting my nails, but I was wondering the difference between them all. I've heard that a silk wrap is best for your nails, but I can't afford that right now. Anyone have a clue???What's the difference between these nails?
    Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails are the strongest and last the longest of all the nail overlays. But, if it's not done well, these nails can look thick and very artificial. Find a manicurist who is an expert at applying acrylic nails, and you can get a very thin, natural-looking nail. They usually need to be filled in every two to three weeks as your nails grow, but depending on how hard you are on your nails, you may need to see the manicurist sooner to avoid nail loosening, which can lead to mildew if water gets trapped underneath. And, if a professional removes them properly, the acrylic nails should cause little weakening to the nail plate. One factor that might make you choose acrylic: It is the most commonly-used artificial nail; if you travel a great deal, it will be easier for you to find a place to repair or fill in your manicure.

    Silk, Linen and Fiber Wraps

Wraps are pieces of silk, linen or fiberglass that have been cut to the desired shape and glued to the nail plate. This adds strength, and sometimes length, to the nail. Though done on natural nails, wraps are most commonly used to strengthen tips. Silk is the most natural-looking wrap and provides a lot of flexibility, but it is often too delicate for those with an active lifestyle. Linen is stronger, but it is not transparent and appears quite thick. Fiberglass is the best of both worlds, since it provides the natural look of silk and the strength of linen.

    Gel Nails

Once, these nails were made of dental porcelain gel-powder. Now, manicurists use a Mylar form to sculpt your nail, and then cure, or set, it under an ultraviolet light. Because of this process, gel nails may need to be filled in less often than acrylic nails, though fill-ins are still necessary, and a professional must remove the tips

    Solar Nails

Solar nails are similar to a French manicure and applied in a two-step process. The white tip of the nail is applied first, followed by the application of the pink part of the nail. Solar nails are chip-free and long lasting, needing to be refilled every three weeks. Benefits of the solar nails are that they do not turn colors or turn to gel when under the lamps of a tanning bed. Plus, they do not need to dry, which makes them more convenient.

Im a guy and thinking about going to thebeauty salon to get my nails done?

How do i go about getting my nails done like my girlfriend has her nails done. She gets a set of acrylics on her fingernails and an acrylic overlay on her toenails.Im a guy and thinking about going to thebeauty salon to get my nails done?
Just go to the salon and tell them what you've told us (except the part about your girlfriend paying - that sounds a bit gutless XD). If you don't want to raise too many eyebrows at your reunion, I'd say keep it natural. Just get your nails shaped and buffed.

If you're nails are in really poor condition, you'd probably do well to go for acrylics and a french manicure but remember, while this will make your nails look very neat, it will be rather obvious - not that I find anything wrong with that, but others may. Whether you chose to do it or not should depend on how much flack you're willing to cop.Im a guy and thinking about going to thebeauty salon to get my nails done?
Why don,t you get your chest waxed while your there all the way down to your vagina.

What is a good way to calm my dog down to clip his nails?

I've got a strong dog who hates the clippers being anywhere near his nails. Are there any over-the-counter meds that I could give him to konk him out for a little while that would be safe for him? What is a good way to calm my dog down to clip his nails?
Try bringing the dog off the Ground when you clip his nails. Put him on a table or desk. Get him accustomed to you touching his feet. When he is relaxed, give him a foot rub. Do that for five minutes, three times a day. If you can't do it without meds, take the dog to a vet or groomers to get his nails cut. What is a good way to calm my dog down to clip his nails?
Start over completely. Meds are not going to solve your problems for an anxious dog that you cannot train.

Start my just carrying the clippers around with you all the time so that he gets used to them. When he's relaxing with you, hold his paws...just hold them. Gradually, within a few weeks as you hold his paws, spread his toes and move them around. Maybe even get the clipper out, but don't do anything. The next week, while you do this assuming he's now to the point that he doesn't mind and he's calm, clip one nail, just a bit, give him a treat and then leave him alone. Don't do any more for a few days.

I did this with my Great Dane/St. Bernard mix...I'm sure you can do it with yours if you have patience.
IF this was a puppy there are a number of easy things to do to get him accustomed to nail clipping. However, tranquilizers are not on that list. Sounds like your best bet is to pay the vet tech or a groomer to do it for you. They usually only charge $5 or $10 depending on the dog.
for my dog, i take him to the vet he will rip my hands out if i even touch his nails, the vet puts him to sleep for alittle while an than he is fine!
I wouldn't suggest that you give him any medications, just call your Vet,sometimes they'll do it for free.If it costs anything the fee will be minimal.Hope this helps.

no. Shake your nail polish gently by rolling it in your palms. That will stop air bubbles .Also make sure that you wash your hands/nails with soap and water to get rid of dirt too. Similar to hot pepper juice....put your fingers in your mouth a few times with that stuff on it, you'll stop after a while! :) I sure did!How can I stop the habit of biting the skin around my finger nails?
    dip your fingers in vinegar

keep fingernail clippers with you at all times and when you find yourself wanting to bite, use those instead

if you don't have them on you sit on your hands until you can find some

or get a hobby that involves your hands like sewing, knitting, drawing, etc. so when you want to bite, start doing something else to distract you

    good luck
Do your own nails and forget the fake ones. Saves money and they cause too much damage. Yours will grow. Always push your cuticle back. After every shower use your longest nail or a tool to push them back gently. You can buy tools for this as well as gels to help.

Always keep them polished. Use a base coat, two coats of polish and a top coat. Use a nude color to start till they grow. The day after you do them put a 2nd top coat on. Some say put one on every other day. Once they are long you will show them off instead of bite them. Keeping them moisturized will fend off the dead skin you are biting.

I have had long beautiful nails for a long time. I cant afford to see a manicurest every other week but I try to go once a month cause they do the cuticles the best. That is sooo important to growing them.

You could try keepin bitter apple juice on them. Pet stores carry it to keep dogs out of flower beds.

    Best of luck
Use hot sauce, alcohol, even Pine-Sol (lol), something should work! If you said the nasty tasting polishes don't work, something is nasty enough to make you stop biting your skin. Try something where the smell is really disgusting and overpowering.
it sounds gross but dip your fingers in rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover....the nasty taste will likely get you to stop
I feel for ya, I have the same problem. Chew gum. It's been working for me for about a week now. good luck.

Is it safe to paint your nails after getting acrylics taken off?

I've done it before, but I got mine taken off at a different salon this time, and the manicurist told me not to paint my nails for a week. They're really weak and I'm scared I might damage them more if I don't put a clear coat on. (That's what I did last time and what I was hoping to do this time.) Is it okay to put on a clear coat? Thanks! Is it safe to paint your nails after getting acrylics taken off?
Definitely do the clear coat. If I didn't do that after I had acrylics for three+ months my nails would have been such a bigger mess than they already were lol. They need some sort of protection. Is it safe to paint your nails after getting acrylics taken off?
i paint my nails as soon as i take the acrylics off and nothing ever happened to me so you should be fine.
a week isn't that long, just wait, you could use garlic on them to make them stronger.

drink lots of water. but not all at once cause then it will look like ur prego. lol try this first cause i woodnt just buy random things that say they will work when they make it worse. also if water doz not work try nail polish that has nail strenghener in it. read the directions and dont put on to much cause it will smother ur nails. the problem may have been because u dnt let ur nails breathe when u put nail polish on.
they have vitamins usually at local drug stores, we have sallys beauty salon, not sure wat you may have...but they are for hair, skin %26amp; nails and they are really good at making them thicker %26amp; stronger.

How do I clip my dogs nails, I have clippers, but I need help??

I have the weird clippers with the toe guard, but how do you know how far back you can cut the nail?

Is the whole thing just nail, or is there flesh in part of it that I would cut?

Please and thank youHow do I clip my dogs nails, I have clippers, but I need help??
I won't use the guillotine kind, which is what you have, becasue you can't really see where to cut. t makes it more difficult.

Ask a groomer or the vet tech to show you the proper way to do it, and practice while you are there, so you really learn - they should let you do a couple under supervision. That way, you will have already done it when you get home.

I stand over my dogs- frontwards for the front paws, and and backwards for the back paws- and bend their paws back like a blacksmith would a horse's legs. That way, you are looking at their nails from the bottom up, which is where you want to cut - it also give you a better view of the quick, which is the live part of the nail that you don't want to cut.

I like the nail clippers taht resemble the ones made for cats - made by Master Tools. They give you the best view, and cut where you really are aiming.

It's far better to take the dog to the vet or groomer, though, if you really are not confident - it's so easy to get them too short, and horribly painful- and it's not that expensive. How do I clip my dogs nails, I have clippers, but I need help??
Don't clip your dogs nails if you have to ask how. Unless you are a proffessional groomer, vet tech, or veterinarian, you shouldn't be clipping nails. The reason why is because the quick could be cut or your dog might jump and get a whole nail lopped off and be in some serious paid, possibly get an infection, take your dog to a groomer and they'll clip them for about 5 bucks, it's definately better than the 250 dollar vet bill you'd pay doing it yourself!
If you look at the underside of your dog's nail, you will be able to see the quick -the part that will bleed if you clip it.

If you've never clipped before, ask someone who has to come help you, or ask your vet for a quick lesson. ours does this for free.

when you're clipping your dog's nails, be sure to have some cornstarch or quickstop on hand in case you do nick their quick to stop the blood. this is a highly vascular area, and they can bleed a LOT.
I totally thought the same thing. You have to check out the vein in your dog's claw. If your dog has black claws, take them to a groomer or vet. They are professionals and if you get a good one, they will show you how to do it. It relieves your stress. Your dog will pick-up on the fact that you are not very comfortable about clipping the nails and it makes the whole experience more stressful on your dog and you!
Trimming your dog's nails is not just a part of grooming, but is important for your dog's health as well. It is important to remember that untrimmed nails can cause a variety of problems including broken nails that are painful and bleed profusely. In some cases, nails will actually curl and grow back into the dog's feet.
I definately agree with Mel H, though I would ask the groomer to show you how and maybe ask to try while there.

If you're not comfortable, just pay a groomer. I clip my own dogs' nails, but they have clear nails so I can SEE the quick, and I have had a vet show me how to do it.
My advice is to get a professional groomer to show you exactly how to do this. It is not always so easy to do, depending on the dog. The dew claw needs trimming also. Don.t try by yourself, get professional advice.
I WAS SO SCRED OF THE SAME THING,SO MY VET SAID CUT ONLY ALTTLE 2 THE PINK ON THEIR NAILS,IF BY ANY CHANCE U CUT 2 SHORT LIKE I DID,HURRY AND GET FLOUR,OR BABY POWER,OR BAKING SODA,BUT ANY KIND OF POWER,STICK THEIR PAW IN IT TILL IT STOPS BLEEDING.
Take your dog to a groomer or vet and let them show you how. Especially if your dog has black nails. They will only charge you a little and its worth it to know the correct way
YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL. FIRST LOOK AT THE PINK THAT YOU CAN SEE FROM THE NAIL. ITS CALLED A QUICK. TRY NOT TO CUT THAT AND DO IT SLOWLY SO YOU WONT HURT THE DOGGIE.

How would you take off fake nails without it hurting?

I just got my nails done yesterday. They are acrylic. I dont want them off yet but just in case... should I go and get them removed or how could i do it with out it hurting. How would you take off fake nails without it hurting?
finger nail polish removerHow would you take off fake nails without it hurting?
DO NOT RIP OR BITE THEM OFF!!!!! Either go to the salon to have them removed. Or get some acetone from a beauty supply store and soak them until they are soft and can come off. The acetone will melt the acrylics so they can be removed. Biting/ripping them off will hurt and cause damage to your natural nail bed and can result in infections and such.
i had to rip mine off with the help of sharp metal utensils

    not the best way haha

What color should i paint my nails? I dont want to look childish, but i want to look professional.?

also, i want a color that can go with pretty much whatever color outfit i choose to wear. My nails are a little longer than my finger tips if that matters. Thanks. What color should i paint my nails? I dont want to look childish, but i want to look professional.?
French manicure is pretty and goes with everything. What color should i paint my nails? I dont want to look childish, but i want to look professional.?
A french manicure goes with anything!

it's easy if you use tape to do it, but try not to make the line up too high or straight across!
    cubby blue
Any fingernail polish that is a neutral color, like, peach, tan, very light pink, even clear. You might consider a matte finish which is more professional, not metallic or with sparkles which looks more fun. Basically if you would consider the color boring in taste, then it's probably appropriate to wear to work. I personally think the French manicure with white polished tips with a clear coat overlay looks the best. If you are having a hard time deciding, paint each nail a different color on each hand and hold them up to your wardrobe in your closet and see which color would go the best with everything . Good luck!

Dries quickly to a smooth finish color red
    From this website:

    http://www.honeybeegardens.com/natural-c鈥?/a>

Here's a palette from which to choose:

    http://www.honeybeegardens.com/mm5/merch鈥?/a>

From that palette, 'San Francisco' is pale, but sophisticated; 'Desire' or 'Risque' are warm and sophisticated; and 'Vintage Merlot' is rich, but might be difficult to 'go' with your ensembles. Everything really depends, really, on your coloring, so hold your hand up to the swatches to see what appeals. :-)

    Have fun!
you could to do red its really classy or you could go with neutral and do a tan color or you could try and go with french tips
Its the begining of fall so all the bright summer colors are out so Id go with a brown or red or a plain french manicure with white on white. Unless you live in constant summer than it can be a light pink or irredesent color like ';balerina slippers'; or ';marshmellow';. Def no black or hot neon color and nothing un-natural like blue, green, or purple.
You could do a light peach color (depending on your skin tone) or wine red.
    black is professional and fun
BLACK is not professional ... trust me I got in trouble at my job for having black nail polish. I'd say pink
a red is always professional but not to bright
just get a baige or tannish cream paint them 2 coats after that use the white nails to do the french manicure look then top it off with light pink coat or clear whatever you perfer.
hugss.. well this depends on your age... if your older ..then how about very pale pinks... frosts even... and also a good manicure and color ..even just a french manicure makes a girl look more mature and professional.. staya way from th blue..black..deep dark reds... purple etc.. those are childish and or gothic..if ya want to look professional... hugsss and just experiment...
It depends how professional your job is. If it's REALLY professional, then try light colors, not bright ones. Like instead of a hot pink, do a light pink. It can be hard to find light colors in nail polish, though. But just find either neutral or like someone said, peachy colors, that aren't too bright. My mom used to wear a really dull/light plum color and it was okay.

  • How can I fill the holes in my wall (just little ones from nails)?

I'm moving out soon and I need the walls to be back to normal for the sake of my deposit!

I've been told I need poly-filler, but how does it work? How can I fill the holes in my wall (just little ones from nails)?
    Toothpaste.

If they are small, (picture hanging nails), and your walls are white...you can use toothpaste. It will fill the hole nicely and will dry up to be hard. It will blend in well with the walls.

It will even work on most colored walls if the holes are sporadic and the base color of the wall is white. (Off white, eggshell, light yellow, etc.)

Its a little trick used by a lot of people. It wont cost very much and its nothing to take a dab of it and fill the hole.

Good luck. How can I fill the holes in my wall (just little ones from nails)?
    bubble gum!!!
yes poly filler it comes in a tube you just push some in the hole and smoth it over i use plastic cards like my necter card
White toothpaste. Not gel type. Also starch, mixed with water to make a paste. . Plaster of paris. Any of these will do, but you have to level them off while wet. if your walls are colored the best you can do is to tint whatever filler you use with food coloring, or maybe wait til it dries and use the tip of a majic marker or fabric marker from Michaels.
Nah fill them in with toothpaste. Just push it in with a pin or a hair grip! You'll have to paint over the hole too if your walls are coloured. It works well enough to fool landlords anyway. I burned a hole in my carpet, which is proving more difficult to conceal...
Buy a tube of ready made stuff, squirt it in the hole then level off. Hey presto with a bit of sanding %26amp; paint you would never know it's there.

    It's really easy...give it a go
Polyfilla... great. sort of plaster of paris for walls. Get it as smooth as poss with bank card while wet, then when dry, a slightly damp scouring pad over a slightly wider area....will cause the little bit of polyfilla to get coloured the same as existing . No need to repaint
Yeah polyfiller will do the trick, just fill in the holes, wait for them to dry, sand them over a bit then touch them up with paint. It'll look as good as new =]
I have used drywall compound. Apply conservatively with a putty knife. Wait an hour, then using a slightly damp sponge, rub the hole areas. This leaves the hole filled and the paint undamaged. In most cases you wont need to worry about painting the wall to mask the holes.
Yes Polyifiller will do the job nicely for you. Take a basin, put in a tablespoon fiull of poly and add sufficient water to make a stiff paste. If it is too sloppy, add a little more poly until your paste is like ice-cream. Then take an old dinner knife and press the poly into and over the holes with a sweeping movement of the hand. Leave to dry, about four or five hours should do. Then lightly brush over the site with some medium sandpaper and paint over the same colour as the wall. Bingo, you have vanished the holes.
go to home depot and get one of those all-in-one repair kits for small holes. it has the joint compound and the smoothing tool all in one convenient tube. (the smoothing tool is on the end of the tube.) very inexpensive too
Get a tube of ready made filler and an old credit card or similar card. Put a little on the card and

press it into the hole then scrape it off, easy! good luck, hope you get your deposit back.
its easy just buy it ,it work like magic ,no mixing or calculating how much water to add .make sure your holes are clean ,i mean no oil residue.buy a putty knife in home depot or hardware store and spreaded it like butter but less to fill the holes after it dries paint over with white primer
Decorators filler will do the job and is also cheaper than polyfiller, it comes in a cartridge -for a cartridge gun. If the holes are deeper than a half inch pack them out with a little cardboard. Put a small amount of the filler on a scrap of wood or card then using a credit card or similar scrape it over the hole aiming to achieve a smooth surface.
buy some filler from a diy shop, or somewhere like wilkinsons and then you just squirt it into the hole and smooth over it, then let it dry. its really easy once you get used to it. if your decorating you'll have to leave it to dry before you put something over it.
you can get this wood putty and just smooth it out over the nail hole and after it's dried put paint over it

you should report this to your family doctor at once.

    stop mutilating your body.
That comes from stress and unrelieved anxiety. See your doctor about taking something like Zoloft or Prozac, or, perhaps, a low dose of some tranquilizer.

A problem like that can escalate into near self-mutilation: my sister bit and tore at her nails until she damaged the nailbeds themselves and, as a consequence, the nails grow twisted and are grotesque looking.
    are you on drugs? whats with the scabs on the face!? and biting yer nails, errrr are you on drugs?! nervous? .. umm .. im not sure wtf to say to you, ';but drugs are bad mmmkay!?';
Put Mehndi in ur nails which will make them stronger and hence difficult for u to bite.

Also appy Aloe gel on your face which will prevent scabs
wear oven mits at all times. tape them on so you can't cheat
You're suffering from Anxiety and/or Depression.

    Initial treatment

Initial treatment of social anxiety disorder is based on the severity of your emotional and physical symptoms and your ability to function in daily activities. People who have social anxiety disorder often have depression as well. They may also have alcohol or substance abuse problems. Your health professional may ask you certain questions to see whether you might be drinking too much or abusing drugs.

Social anxiety disorder often goes undetected for years before treatment is sought鈥攂y that time, you may have developed behaviors that accommodate the fears. These habits or behaviors must be overcome to successfully manage social anxiety disorder.

First, your health professional must determine whether you are generally anxious about all social encounters, or whether a specific situation triggers anxiety.

    Good luck.
That sounds sooo sad I feel for you Scott, maybe learn a new skill to keep your hands busy, they sound like they need it, play an instrument or make jewelry, write letters, learn pottery.........ANYTHING but don't do those things they will depress you and make others think you are ill.......... good luck...

Keep away from shimmers; but it depends what kind of party it is. From your selections; go with dark shimmery blue. Bright glittery pink is a little childish.

However, they can't be really long or they will get caught in the ball and hurt really bad.Is it possible to have acrylic nails if you bowl?

yes, but you cannot choose super long ones, and prepare for them to fall off if you don't secure them. Also, they might chip, so it might not be worth it.

Hi, I bit my nails my whole life and my mom bought that to try to get me to stop. Just so you know, it goes on like ';nail polish'; but it washes off immediately. You'd do just as well to dot your nails with vinegar (which will actually moisturize your cuticles - go figure) because it is bitter and remind you not to bite. Good luck with your habit!

  • How do I keep my french acrylic nails that I got done at the salon, from looking bad?

I got my nails done a week ago, and I usually wait 3 weeks before getting them filled. The edges around the bottom always look tacky beacause they lift up and I was wondering if there was some way I could make them look better. How do I keep my french acrylic nails that I got done at the salon, from looking bad?
you can file the bottom gunk off, and then paint them with clear nail polish. How do I keep my french acrylic nails that I got done at the salon, from looking bad?
get them done every 2 weeks
They have over the counter supplies that you can get at any pharmacy. If they are popping up, they weren't applied correctly. You can use an itty bitty bit of superglue to re adhere them. If they already need to be filled in, purchase the powder and fill them in. DO NOT use Acetone nail polish remover to take off the polish. It makes the superglue come apart. You MUST use NON ACETONE nail polish remover.
Stay away from washing dishes , unless you wear gloves ! Alcohol is a sure killer !
if you want your nails to look nice at all times you need to make an appointment every two wks. i would not even mess with them it makes matters worse.
You have to be super careful with Acrylics when they start to separate from the nail. This causes water to get in between the nail and the acrylic and will cause a fungal infection. Luckily this fungus is very easy to see b/c it will look like dirt or green stuff under your nail.Mine sometimes separate at the top if I wait too long for a fill but if they are separating from the bottom you need to talk to your nail tech about using stronger glue or letting the acrylic set longer or something.

If your nail tech doesn't take this seriously I would find another b/c if you ever wear color you might not notice a fungus and they can get so bad that you would lose your nail, unlikely since you see someone every three weeks but still something to think about.

Some people's nails grow faster than others and you may just be one of those people that has to go more often.
First, quit getting acrylic. They lift to easily. Get gel. Don't wait three weeks, go every two. Also, try not to get them too long, that makes them lift faster. Try not to wash dishes too much without using gloves, and type too much!

How do you clip a cat's nails?

I've heard your not supposed to clip a cat's nails with a normal nail clipper. So what am I supposed to do when their nails are long and sharp? How do you clip a cat's nails?
I work at an animal shelter and people nail clippers are all we use. They work great especially if your cats is not keen on having those big nail clippers in their face. People nail clippers can basically hide in your hand. I normally will sit on the floor with the cat between my knees and gently squeeze the paw to expose the nails and just take the hook off. My vet even uses them and he recommended them to me.How do you clip a cat's nails?
    you can go to any store and get the proper tool to cut cat or dogs nails. Then they usually say how to cut your cats nails. You shouldn't guess where to cut cause if you fit one of their viens they will die bleeding. When you get the proper tools you usually cut them inch by inch at first. if the nails or clear the viens are easier to see. If your very unsure about doing it you can ask your vet to clip them or show you how to clip them and they should be able to help you. Good luck! %26gt;^.^%26lt;
well you can probably go to the vet and get them cut or you can buy special nail clippers for cats and dogs.
They make nail clippers for this. Best to have a vet show you first. But, I would never clip a cat's claws. When I had my cat that was the fun. I have him down on his back with my hand holding his chest and twist him back and forth. He be clawing me with all fours and biting too. Man we had fun, but, my arm not think so! :-p
You get a special nail scissors. The blades are short, blunt and bent and there is a notch for the claw. These aren't expensive.

If you sit in a livingroom chair with arms and put the cat (if you're right handed like I am) on your left leg and push it back into the corner. That way you can hold it with your left arm and elbow while you expose the claw with your left and and then clip it with your right. Remember to look for the vein and don't clip that far back. It might end up being a 2-person job, depending on the cat.

When you're done, pet the cat gently and give it a treat. Bribery works well, so they won't remember and will forgive you.
You can find special cat claw clippers at any pet store. They're great. Just make sure not to clip to low, past the pink.
go and purchase some naiil clippers for animals, they either have a guillotine type looking kind or another type with scissor handles (that's the kind i prefer)

then get your cat and (sometimes it cool to have a helper) hold their paw so that you can push out the claw part and then clip off only the part that is clear. if you clip anything pink your cat will freak out hate you and start bleeding. if the nails are dark it's safe to cut the hook part of the claw off, i don't go much further than the part that hooks things.

then just move along to the next claw, if your cat gets antsy or crabby just let it go for a bit and try again later. eventually they will get used to it.
I use normal nail clippers. I have been doing it since my cats were quite young so they tolerate it quite well. You just hold their paw and push down slightly at the base of the claw and the claw will poke out. You can see the pink part inside the nail which comes out about half way. Don't cut that far. Sometimes using nail clippers the claw will split up into the cuticle and this can bleed a little and may be a little sore so try not to cut too high up.
    very carefully! lol
just clip the tip off of the nail if they are dark or if they are clear clip them back a little more as long as you don't cut the vein in the nail.
there are special nail clippers made for cats and small dogs. what i do is, when my cats are really drowsy (drowsy enough so that they wont give you a hard time) take their paw, push lightly on it, and clip the tips of each nail. when your starting out, (it is best you start when ur cat is young so he/she will learn to cooperate) go a paw or sometimes a finger a day at a time. offer treats too! cats go nuts for those things and my cats will do almost anyting for them. give it a go and good luck!
You need to start when they are young. If the cat fights just do one or two. Don't stress the cat out too much. I have one cat who only allows me to do two or three at a time. I use regular clippers and only remove the very end of the nail. I have never had bleeding. I just trimmed a 4 months old and she had a fit but at least she wasn't getting her nails hooked on the rug anymore.
you can use dog clippers. be sure not to cut back to the quick. if you do and it starts to bleed, put baking soda on it to stop the bleeding.
well heres what u need to do u have to go to a pet store and get a cat nail cilpper. thats what i did for my cat. then when he is calm try to get to his/her nails and clip them but not the pink part.
I use ordinary nail clippers to trim my cats' claws. But I have to wait until they are asleep to do it. And you must first accustom your cat to you handling her paws. So start now. Just gently touch her paws, massaging gently. She'll try to keep withdrawing the paw of course, so it will take several days until she trusts her paws to your handling. then one day when she is asleep in a well lighted place, trim her claws - one paw at a time! You won't be able to get all done in one sitting so you need patience. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CLIP TOO SHORT - just clip the VERY TIPS to avoid accidentally clipping the nail quick - that will hurt and injure your cat and she will never again trust you to touch her paws! I just cut the very tips and I turn the claw sideways since I use ordinary nail clippers.
you can trim cats nails. all you do is get a pair of cat, rabbit, dog nail clippers. get your cat hold it and manually retract his paw, then clip the very tip, be careful not to clip tooo low, into the cuticle. it may bleed and if it does dip it in flour and dont worry, it just looks like alot blood but there no danger too it.
it is true that you are not suppose to clip a cats nails with a nail clipper. so buy a special cat clipper. go to a pet store or vet and look for one.

Do acrylic nails cover the tip of your nails or the whole nail?

do acrylic nails cover the tip of your nails or the whole nail? If so, if the acrylic nails only cover the tip, would this cause any damage. to your regular nail?Do acrylic nails cover the tip of your nails or the whole nail?
Yes they cover the whole of your nail and they damage your nails considerably. People who have them all the time tend to have paper thin nails which are very brittle and are painful to touch

edit: Yes you will see your nails are damaged once you have them taken off. If you take them off yourself you will cause more damage from ripping them upDo acrylic nails cover the tip of your nails or the whole nail?
They cover your whole nail. Whether there is damage or not depends on how long you continue to get acrylic nails. If you wear them long enough your nails will become softer and easier to damage.
they put on a tip and cover the rest with acrylic
yes, it does damage your whole nail. The tip is only half way on but the acrylic overlay covers all. It will fry you own nails --

Been there, done that - moved on
everything you have to have attached to your nail will damage it but you can go back and pay for it to be removed with that liquid but when you get it wraped it grows out and stuff but hopefully your rich you ccan go every week to get it filled in lol
They cover the tip but then the people but some goo which covers the whole nail. The goo then turns hard. So when you take them off they come out a one whole nail.
A tip is applied to about 1/4 to 1/2 of your actual nail and acylic is applied over that and the remainder of your nail...so yes, the entire nail is covered. Yes, it is damaging to your nails. My suggestion would be to soak them off rather then attempting to rip them off (which some people do). It takes a lot longer to soak them but it is less damaging to your nails then to try to pry/rip them off. And if you take them off after only getting them done once the damage will be pretty minimal (although everyone's nails are different). Bear in mind the longer you have them on the more damage will be done.
If you do not like your nails...just let them grow out but you need to go to get them trimmed when they get too long. It will take long but you will have newly grown nails. Why did you get them ???
They cover the entire nail, not just the tip.

Is there something you can soak your nails in to make them longer and stronger?

I have short nails. They always seem to break very easily once they start to get even just a little longer. I don't know what to do to make them longer and stronger. Everything online is different and I don't know what to believe. Is there something you can soak your nails in to make them longer and stronger?
i had the same problem. use hand cream and clear iron enriched nail polish, the iron makes them stronger. i also use a hand wash sometimes. Is there something you can soak your nails in to make them longer and stronger?

soak them in acetone nail varnish remover for at least half an hour and file them down if they dont budge! or go back to the nail shop and pay 拢10 to get them removed xxHow do I remove these stupid acrylic nails?
The best thing to do is go to a nail salon and have the people remove them for you. Don't bite them off. It will make your nails beds really sore. If you don't have the time to go to a nail salon then what you can do is get some nail polish remover and soak your fingers in it and the acrylic nails should melt off or get soft. If they don't completely melt off then you can pick them off if they are soft or just soak them longer. This may take a lot of time but it will work.
I had my nails done once and i ended up taking them off the next day because i could not change my kids diapers(you call them nappies), i could not type like you just said and my fingers hurt also.I called a friend of mine who went to beauty school and said to SOAK them in nail polisher removed that has Acatone in it.I did that but it still was a ***** to get them off.It took me hrs to get them off and the acrylic did not all come off at once either some of it was still stuck it came off over time. I haven't got the nails done since lol im just not use to having long nails and they suck when you have kids.
They take time to get used to. No one is more virtuous for not having them.

Anyway, what I always advise is taking a cotton ball and saturating it in acetone, place it on your nail and wrap each nail in foil. It will take about 30 minutes and they should be melted enough to scrape off. I would advise waiting a couple of days because it sounds like they damaged your cuticle area (shouldnt happen with a good tech) so putting acetone on them so soon might hurt
its probably because u just had them put on, you will get used to them in a few days. but if you really want them off head down to the drug store/pharmacy and buy some acetone. soak em in there, it dissolves the acrylic cement that binds the fake nail on.

oh i should also add, they almost destroy your nail putting them on so they bind well to your real nails, so you should invest in some nail strengthening treatments too because your nails will look shocking for a few weeks after.
I understand the hurt, you must have just received a new full set! I would recommend keeping them since you wanted your hands to look nice anyway. The throbbing pain will subside in a few days, if not then try this.....( the link)

it was a previously asked question and got good answers
Soak them in Acetone, you can buy it at drugstores. You have to do it for a while or it doesnt work. Try filing them down to a comfortable size otherwise?
Usually you need something with acetone in it to soften the glue.

DON'T bite them off, it leaves behind glue and it ruins your nails.
You can go back to the nail place and they will take them off for you. It takes longer than it did to get put on and is painful.

What is the best kind of fake nails to get?

I love having my nails look nice, but I hate them constantly chipping and having to go get them done again every week. I would love to get fake ones, but everyone that gets them says that they ruin your real nails, what is the best kind that look really nice, are strong and durable, and will last for a while? Thanks :)What is the best kind of fake nails to get?
Go get UV nails or Acrylic. My mom and sister LOVE the UV but they are a little more expensive. I go with the acrylic because they are cheaper. Just go back every few weeks to get them trimmed and filled in. The easiest way to keep them from damaging your real nails...have them taken off by the same people that put them on. Also if you want your real nails to grow out have them put some acrylic over your real nail with no add on. To take that off just soak your nails in pure acetone (found at Wal-mart, a big bottle runs you $2) for a WHILE. Then use one of those 7 in1 nail buffer things to make your nails look better1What is the best kind of fake nails to get?
They don't ruin your nails, you just need to take a break every once in awhile and let your nails breath ya know. Mine never chip or break off. I just get clear tips, that way I can get them designed or I can get a white tip airbrushed on.

I bought the stuff from Sally's so I can do fill ins myself, jus don't always have the time, they are faster then me lol
